Last week CTR attended the most recent gathering of the 501 Tech Club, a group of Chicago non-profit IT professionals. The monthly social event, which rotates between various pubs and restaurants around the city, allows group members to network and share best practices about technology challenges in their various workplaces.
501 Tech Club coordinator Kara Carrell talks to a group member at the Logan Bar & Grill on the near northwest side of Chicago.
The 501 Tech Club is a affinity group of the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN), a national membership organization for technology professionals. The Chicago branch has approximately 270 members who communicate through an email listserve and website.
Similar in scope to the 501 Tech Club, Net Tuesday meetings bring together the nonprofit technology community, with a special emphasis on using web2.0 and social media tools to promote social change and activism projects. Their next meeting is October 14.
CTR looks forward to enhanced coverage of the nonprofit tech scene as part of its overall coverage of the broader Chicago technology community.
