For those unfamiliar, South by Southwest (or SXSW) is an annual event held in Austin, Texas which showcases the newest trends in music, film, and interactive media. Specifically in the case of the Interactive Festival, SXSW has helped launch many new communication tools into the national spotlight such as Twitter and Friendfeed and now the tech community is feverishly waiting for what the SXSW 2009 event will skyrocket to stardom.
For readers who are attending, obviously it makes all the sense in world to network with new and different faces at such conferences, however Chicago Tech Report would like to also welcome our local tech community to stay in touch while we're sharing the experience in Austin. Even though we all live in the same city, these types of gatherings are often a great opportunity to catch up as well as demonstrate the value that Chicago brings to the tech community collectively.
To help keep us connected in Austin, please join the Chicago Folk Going to the SXSW Interactive 2009 Facebook Group. Within the group you will be able to see who is representing us in Austin this year, grab twitter account profiles to manage impromptu meet-ups, and check where people will be staying while at SXSW (including those looking for room mates). As of this moment, Blagica and Len will be at the event this year and are excited to see our local heros in action whether they are on panels or just there to learn more. We've got 29 rock stars representing so far and we hope to see more by March.
Stay tuned for updates on SXSW via your Chicago Tech Report team as the event gets closer!
