If you've ever wanted to be a founder of a startup company, you can take part in the near future by attending Startup Weekend Chicago. This 3-day extreme bootcamp for aspiring entrepreneurs has been held around the country and is finally making its way to the Windy City April 3-5. The basic format is attendees gather on Friday evening and brainstorm ideas for companies. Typically these are software/tech companies but anything is really possible. The attendees then break up into project teams and spend the remainder of the weekend working around the clock making their ideas into reality.
The weekend is not just for techie types. Marketers, managers, graphic designers... lots of skill areas are needed to launch a real live company in under 72 hours. Having attended a previous weekend in another city, I can say it's one of the most intense, yet exciting ways to work with a group of people you just met. The event will be held at the TechNexus space in downtown Chicago.
