The head of Starcom MediaVest, Renetta McCann is stepping down from her post and taking a year sabbatical. Ms. McCann was one of the few leading top women executives in marketing and media and was ranked #27 in Forbes list of Powerful Women in 2006.
I worked for Giant Step from 1998-2001, which was owned by Leo Burnett. Starcom was an offshoot of Burnett and I had a slew of friends that worked there. I heard Ms. McCann's name from those Starcomers for years and they had nothing but terrific things to say about McCann's work ethic and talent.
A sabbatical well deserved, indeed.
